Christmas Cone Trees
Hi guys! Eeek, it’s Christmas Eve! I have totally forgotten to share with you my Christmas cone trees I made. If you follow me on Instagram then you probably saw them already. I absolutely love all of the cone trees, in all the sizes, in the stores. They are so pretty but I just couldn’t bring myself to buy them though because they are sooo expensive. I figured I would try my hand at making some.
First I searched out the styrofoam cones and realized the cones themselves are expensive! I bought one at Wal-Mart for $7. I decided to make my own cones with some bristol board and cardboard.
I used the styrofoam cone as a template for my bristol board cones and added a round piece of cardboard in the bottom. This made of them a little more sturdy. Two of them I painted silver and the styrofoam one gold. I used my glue gun for this project and the rest of the supplies came from the dollar store of course.
For the first cone I used some Christmas ball ornaments. I pulled off the top hanging part of the ball and then I used my glue gun and stuck them on the cone! So easy and the end result was gorgeous!
For the next two trees I used the ‘wrap’ technique. I used some silver garland for one tree and some simple craft rope for the other. Not really a christmassy material but it worked. I used some dollar store mini tree toppers for the tops of the trees. They were both silver so I just simply spray painted one of them gold.
I didn’t go crazy with the hot glue. Just a little dab here and there was enough to keep the garland in place. Be careful with the hot glue, it’s HOT! Ouchy! No matter how careful I am I always get hot glue on myself.
And there you go my cute little cone Christmas cone trees. They really did turn out better than I expected. I will never use the styrofoam cones again though. It melted when I spray painted it and then again when I used the hot glue. My home-made cones were the best to work with!
They are just too cute for words! I decided to use them to decorate my dining room table for Christmas. You can also check out my wreath and my little white houses that I made and used in my dining room for Christmas.
I hope everyone has a wonderfully Merry Christmas!
