Easy Christmas Art
Christmas is fast approaching so I thought I would share a quick and easy way to make some Christmas art for your home. It is so easy to do and all I used was items from the dollar store!
First up some dollar store frames. They have tons of different sizes and finishes to choose from and they are super cheap. I bought three of these square frames at 4$ each. For my project I also used an old frame I had that had broken glass.
Dollar Store Frames
Old Broken Frame
I had to remove the staples from the back of my old frame in order to carefully remove the broken glass. But once that job was done I had a lovely black frame to use for my Christmas art project.
The Art
Now to tell you about the ingenious part! I picked up some of these burlap Santa sacks at the dollar store for only $3 each. They are just the cutest! The dollar store had so many designs to choose from that I wanted to buy them all but I restrained myself.
I turned them inside out to give them a quick iron. The print looked like it might get damaged if I applied the iron directly on to it. Better to be safe than sorry!
The Process
The Believe Santa sack was going into the bigger damaged frame that I already had because the print was a bit bigger. I took the piece of cardboard that came with the frame and put it inside the sack. I moved it around so that it was where I wanted it to be on the design.
Once I got it into the right spot I folded over the extra fabric and taped it around the cardboard. I placed it back into the frame making sure to check that the design was in the center where I wanted it to be. If it’s not, just pop it out and reposition the cardboard again. Next I gently folded over the staples to secure it into place. This frame did not have those nice little tabs that frames usually have, just staples. The last step was to staple the little hangy thing back on to the back of it.
The Reveal
And this one is finished! Doesn’t it look great? I absolutely love it!
Next up the dollar store frame. I removed the back from the square dollar store frame. Then I removed the glass as well. You can leave the glass in if you want to. I just wanted it to match with the other frame I was using that did not have glass anymore. Also removing the glass will eliminate the glare on the picture. Don’t forget to iron the sack!
For this frame I decided to cut the burlap sack to the size of the frame. The frame is a little smaller and I thought maybe there would be too much fabric to tape down and keep smooth. I placed the frame on the design and then traced around it. Making sure to leave a little extra to wrap around the cardboard.
Once you have it cut out, wrap it around the cardboard backing and pop it back into the frame. Then bend over the tabs to hold it all into place and you are done! Another wonderful piece of Christmas art for your home.
Hope you enjoyed my quick and easy tutorial to make beautiful Christmas art. Just imagine what else you could frame. There are so many gorgeous gift bags out there that would be amazing to frame. I just might have to make a few more!
