Front Porch Christmas Planter
Another Christmas craft to share. I thought I would show you how easy it is to make my front porch Christmas Planters. Since I insta storied my process I have had several people ask me again how I did it. So here goes!
First I gathered up all of my supplies. My birch branches came from a tree that my mom and dad chopped down. Unfortunately their beautiful birch tree died and had to be taken down. I salvaged a bunch of the branches that I use every year in my pots. My greenery I cut from my own trees! I just couldn’t pay the $16.99 for the bunch of branches that they sell at the grocery store when I knew that I had some beautiful trees I could trim in my own yard. First I trimmed some blue spruce and then realized that I needed something more so I went back out to the yard and grabbed some cedar branches.
I used my same old planters I used for my spring planter and my summer flowers. I spray painted the pots black this year and they look great!
My first step was to put some old patio bricks in the bottom of the pots. I’ve also used large rocks before and they work just as well. Next step is to put in my birch branches. The bricks or rocks really hold them in place as well as add some weight to the planters.
Next up I just started to place the branches in the pot. I was really not concerned with perfection. I just shoved them in! The cute little candy canes I think I bought at Canadian Tire years ago and just found them again this year. Perfect for my Christmas planters!
After all of the greenery was positioned where I wanted them to be in the pots it was time to add all of the fun stuff. All of it except for the candy canes came from the dollar store. There are great Christmas picks, berries, pine cones and ribbon at great prices at pretty much any dollar store. You really can’t go wrong.
Again I wasn’t going for perfection. Poke each pick or berry or pine cone into the pot among the greenery. I put them in the front of the planter since that’s where you see it! And there you have it. Planter done. Sit back and enjoy!
Pretty simple to make really. I am super pleased with they way they turned out. Every year I make a Christmas planter because they are a so simple to put together. Give it a try and I promise you won’t regret it! Scroll to the bottom for a list of supplies you can order online to create your very own planter.
Merry Christmas!
