Kitchen Renovation Progress
Now that everything was demolished for the kitchen renovation it was time to put it all back together again. Kevin and I decided to do the painting ourselves to save a little money. I also plan to do all of the finishing trim work to save even more money.
If you haven’t already, check out my Vision Board for this kitchen. It shows what flooring, countertops and backsplash I chose, amongst other things.
Here is our stack of paint cans. Ceiling paint, primer and wall paint. I decided to use Sherwin Williams paint this time even though I am a diehard Benjamin Moore girl. I did choose the colour Classic Gray though, which is a Benjamin Moore colour. We ended up painting the whole main level this colour as well as the stairway up to the second level.
Kitchen Cabinets
And then the cabinetry arrived! The most exciting day of all. Just knowing that it was here and ready to install was such a relief. Now that all the painting was finished the installers could come and install my beautiful cabinetry. I couldn’t wait to see it come together.
Yay! It’s all here! Installation day tomorrow!
Installation Day
The day the guys came to install the cabinetry was super exciting. I couldn’t wait until I could see the vision of my new kitchen come to life. You don’t know how many ways I have configured this kitchen in my head. I wasn’t even sure it could be done but the kitchen designer that I worked with was a miracle worker. I have waited for this day for a long time!
Here is the stove/range wall. This was the wall where the patio door used to be.
Here is a picture of the refrigerator, microwave and coffee corner wall. It looks so good! I love it!
This is the new peninsula. This used to be the whole space that the old kitchen fit into. It is really almost unimaginable that the kitchen used to fit under this window. The sink, the dishwasher and a drink fridge are fitting into this peninsula.
Here is a full view of the kitchen from our family room. All of the cabinetry is in! Now to wait for the quartz countertops to arrive. At least we could sort of move back into the kitchen. We still needed to wait for the gas hook up for my new gas range before we could use it. I wanted to install a gas range when we moved into this house but it wasn’t possible. The old cabinetry was just too low to be safe or to pass the building code. If you want, you can go check out how I updated my old kitchen too.
One of my favourite things that I included in the new kitchen was the spice drawer. It’s amazing how excited I am over a spice drawer! Also, these drawer organizers, aren’t they great? If you remember I only had 4 teeny tiny drawers in my old kitchen. Now I have drawers everywhere!

And that’s it for now! We just had to wait for the quartz countertops to be installed and the gas to be run for my range. I will leave you with this last picture of the flooring that was installed after the cabinetry was put in. The top picture is the view into the new kitchen. The bottom picture is the view into the family room. Note the fireplace that we demolished!
Thanks for stopping by Kay’s Place to check out our kitchen renovation progress. Next up the reveal!
Have a great day,
