Spring Wreath
I finally decided it was time to get rid of the winter wreath on the door. I love it but it is April after all! Time to get creative and make a spring wreath. So back to the dollar store I went to pick out some materials to make it. I really wanted to use some burlap in the wreath. Fake flowers from the dollar store are a must. For the frame of the wreath I decided to get creative and use a pool noodle, yes I said a pool noodle! Here are the supplies I picked up at the dollar store: burlap, several flower garlands, greenery garland, pool noodle, packing tape (not shown).
In order to make my pool noodle stay in a rounded shape I put it into a small foot stool for a few days. Then when I curved it and taped it with the packing tape it stayed nice and round.
Next step is to wrap the pool noodle with the burlap. I chose a green pool noodle just in case some of it showed through the burlap. I wrapped the burlap around the noodle in a very kind of messy way. I didn’t want it to be all smooth with no wrinkles. I liked the look of the folds and wrinkles.
After the pool noodle was nicely wrapped with the burlap I used several dollar store fake flower garlands to wrap around it. As I wrapped the garlands around the pool noodle I realized that the flowers didn’t always line up with front of the wreath. I definitely didn’t want all of the flowers on the back of my wreath! Finally I came up with a great idea. The flowers and the leaves easily pop of so you can swap them around! I made sure all of the flowers were visible and looking pretty! Magical!
The wreath turned out exactly how I had envisioned it but……. I found that I didn’t really like it all that much. I think the problem was that it was just not my style so i decided to revamp it a little bit. I guess you could call this a DIY fail on my part. I think the purple and yellow were just not doing it for me.
I unwrapped the garlands but I kept the greenery garland. I liked that one because it was very, how should I say this, wild looking. I liked the way it just poked out everywhere. Then I found another dollar store flower pick that I had (I have a slight problem with buying dollar store flowers) to use. I think they are poppies but I am not sure. I cut the three flowers off with some wire snips and just poked them into the pool noodle. Because they were on wire it was quite easy to do. I finished it off with a nice burlap bow. Oh ya, I added the remaining stem of greenery that I removed the flowers from to the wreath as well.
Well what do you think? Version one or version two? I think version one is more my style but version two is pretty as well. By the way, I think painting the front door may be next on the to do list!
Thanks for stopping by today! I created a lovely wreath after a few tries. DIY projects don’t always work out the way we want. Don’t be afraid to mess up once in a while, we learn by doing!
Have a great day!

They are both beautiful wreaths, but I love tradition, so of the two my favorite is the white one! Love the idea of using a pool noodle as the wreath!
