Hi guys, as you know we are starting with our first bathroom renovation. We figured that the boys bathroom would be the easiest place to start. I have been searching Pinterest for ideas and pinning them to my boards like crazy. Now I have to narrow down my choices. I think I have my design plan figured out. The first thing you need to do when updating a bathroom is to get your new vanity made. That is if you are doing a custom vanity to fit perfectly in your space. This is what I envision for the boys bathroom vanity, minus the tower beside the vanity.

This is the vanity in question. Doesn’t it look wonderful? ….Not! The laminate counter top is probably the best part of it. Please ignore the pic of me. Apparently when you take a picture of a mirror you are in it!
It’s got a lovely shell sink that screams the 80’s. Not that there was anything wrong with the 80’s but let’s be real. 80’s decor needs to be updated asap!
I really wanted a warm grey for the colour of the vanity. I went to several cabinet makers and chose the one with the colour that I liked. Apparently cabinet makers have stock colours. You can’t just pick a paint for them to use. Who new? I settled on a color called cement. I think it will be perfect.
The vanity sample above is sitting on top of the tile sample that I have tentatively chosen. Choosing tile is another big process in itself! I think I had 11 or so tile samples spread out on the floor at one point. Everyone walked by and voiced their opinion on which one was the best. Originally I wanted a light grey colour but in the end the white tile won out. You really have to place the tile in the space where it is going to be to see what it looks like under all lighting conditions.
Top row, second from the right is the tentative winner. Still so much stuff to pick out. Like the shower, toilet, tiles for in the shower and fixtures, vanity top and undermount sink to name a few. So there you go. A little sneak peek at the start of our first major bathroom renovation in this new house of ours. Check out part 2 here and part 3 here.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today.
