Lighting
Great lighting can really make a room amazing. Sometimes lighting for a space can be overlooked. I found myself leaning towards a more elegant lighting style for our bathroom. Finding the right lighting for our master bathroom renovation wasn’t easy. I knew I wanted a chandelier above my free standing bathtub and three matching sconces beside the mirrors. I first went to a large lighting store in my area to see what was out there. Man there was a lot of lighting in that store! Pretty overwhelming actually. Even though there was so much to choose from I didn’t really find anything that I liked. Or should I say anything I liked in my price range. You see I only had a $700 budget for lighting. And to top it off I forgot I needed to get a new light fixture for the walk in closet area. So that meant I needed to buy a chandelier, three wall sconces and a flush mount light for the closet all for $700 or less! The search was on! I started with a little bit on online shopping just to get some ideas for what I wanted.
Here is some of my favorite elegant lighting finds. (click on each one for more details):
Chandeliers
Flush Mount/Semi Flush Mount Lights
Sconces
I ended up choosing an orb style chandelier and matching semi-flush mount light from my local big box store. I fell in love with them the first time I saw them! Originally I thought that I wanted a chandelier with the large hanging crystals like in the pictures above, but instead I fell in love with this one. It still has crystals just a little more subdued. Here is what I chose. Aren’t they gorgeous!?
The next challenge was to find some matching sconces. I found some I loved at the large lighting store I initially went to but unfortunately it was going to take 6-8 weeks to get them. Totally not going to work for our renovation timeline. Wayfair to the rescue! I found some sconces almost identical to the ones I loved…and they said they would be here in a week. And they were!
All in all I think I did pretty good with my elegant lighting purchases. I had a budget of $700 and I actually came in under budget at $636.61! Win!
Don’t forget about your light bulbs! I tried all sorts of different looking light bulbs. Since my fixtures were clear glass I decided to go with the clear LED light bulbs so that you can see the filament. I thought it kept the lights looking light and airy. Don’t forget to check what type of color the light gives off. You can usually find warm white, soft white or daylight. I tend to go for soft white or daylight colored bulbs. Warm white is a little too yellow for me. Be careful with the daylight bulbs because they can be very bright!
Hope you enjoyed my lighting post. Thanks for stopping by the blog today.
Have a great day!
