Hi everyone, I just wanted to share with you how I updated my old wicker outdoor furniture. I also painted two little tables and an Adirondack chair that my boys made for me at school in wood shop. You can check them out here. The wicker furniture was given to us and I thought they would be perfect for our front porch. The original color was the traditional light colored wicker and it was not in the best shape.
For the first makeover on the furniture I used a spray paint. I used the Rust-Oleum Painters Touch in the colour Chestnut. I used about 4 cans of it to cover the 2 chairs and 1 small couch. I did not use a primer and I didn’t use a sealant either. It was early on in my DIY career!
It turned out pretty darn good. I painted them is 2013 so they lasted pretty long even without the primer and sealer. I also recovered the cushions with a red shower curtain that I found and loved. This is what the chairs looked like after this first makeover.
Looks pretty good next to my red door doesn’t it? We moved away from this Calgary house of 13 years to our new house in Ottawa and the wicker furniture now stays outside by our pool. We are in desperate need of some new patio furniture but it is still not in the budget yet. After 5 years this makeover has come to the end of its life. Check out part two of the wicker furniture transformation here.
