My Spray Painted Flower Pots
Hi guys, I just wanted to share with you my flower pots that I had put together in the spring. They are looking amazing and turned out way better than I thought they would. Normally I would just buy some hanging baskets and plop them in my urns and be done with it. But this year I thought I would actually try to put them together myself. I bought a bunch of flowers and laid them out on my front step, ready to plant!
Black Spray Paint is the Best!
As per usual when I start anything I get a little distracted. Halfway through planting my annuals I thought it would be a great idea to paint my old large pots. I think they are at least 8-10 years old. They used to be a tan colour and seemed kind of bland looking. They were also quite weathered looking too. Just looking their age. I figured some nice black spray paint would spruce them up a bit. It really only took me 15 minutes to paint them! I used a Rustoleum spray paint in a gloss finish. I was not too sure about the gloss finish but that is all I had on short notice. The gloss finished turned out to be great!
Next step was to actually plant all of the annuals. Here is what the finished product looked like in May. Not too bad!
And this is what the look like now, in middle of August. They were pretty easy to paint and after 3 months of summer sunshine and summer rains they have held up really well and look great. The plants I planted in them also look great! I made sure to water them EVERY day. Watering regularly is not my thing so that was a big deal for me. I also made sure to fertilize them as well. They grew like crazy and are overflowing my pots!
They turned out really great. I think I will do it again next year!
Hope you are enjoying the last little bit of summer! Thanks for visiting my blog today!
