Master Bathroom Renovation Progress
Since we are nearing the end of our master bathroom renovation I thought I would share with you some pictures of the progress that has been made. Demolition day went really well. It didn’t take them long to demolish and remove all of the old ugly bathroom. Demo day was the fastest part of the whole process!
Old Closet Demolished – You can see the green tape we used to help us decide where to put the door. This old reach in closet is going to transform into a stunning walk in closet once we get the door installed. The old ugly carpet is going as well. The bathroom tile will carry on through the bathroom and into this walk in closet space. We didn’t go with a closet company to build us a custom closet because that would cost us a fortune. Instead I opted for a closet system I purchased at my local hardware store.
Old Bathtub Demolished – This was one gigantic bathtub. I felt like I was in my swimming pool when I was in it. Pretty sure it used up all of the water in my hot water tank to fill it up.
Old Shower Demolished – Thank goodness that scary shower is history! Looks really small in this picture but in actual fact it was pretty big once you were in it.
Old Vanity Demolished – Gone Baby Gone! Out with the 80’s in with the new!
Now to show you some of the progress after all the demo mess was removed. These next pictures show the space all cleaned up. The floor is open in the shower and bath area for the plumbers to come and rearrange things.

Toilet and Vanity Area – We are also having a knee wall built to hide and separate the toilet from the vanity.
The first step after demo in putting it all back together is to install the floors. I had a little miss hap selecting the tile for this space but eventually settled on a 24 x 24 tile called Statuary Blanco. It is quite shiny but not slippery at all. We are also installing a heated flooring system because our bathroom seems to be cold for some reason. The orange under lay helps reduce cracked tiles and it is also used to install the heated flooring system.
View from in the closet. To the left is the bathroom and to the right is the bedroom.
Toilet and vanity area. The knee wall is in place.
The shower and bathtub area. The shower base is installed.
Next up the pretty stuff starts to get installed. First the gorgeous floor tile! The tile in the shower is the same tile that is on the floor. Looking pretty good already!
Lastly I will share with you the start of the closet installation. I installed the closet system myself! Actually with my trusty side kick my mom. It came flat packed so I had to put it all together and then position the pieces where I wanted them to go. I anchored them all to the wall so they were nice and sturdy.
