Hi guys! Our master bathroom renovation has been finished for some time now. It has taken me forever to get to sharing it with everyone. We absolutely love how it turned out. It is exactly how I had envisioned it. From the glossy white floor tile to the custom glass shower enclosure to the new vanity, it is amazing! A big thanks goes out to Kanata Renovations. They were amazing and helped us create the master bathroom our dreams. The best way to tell you about it is with before and after pictures. So here we go!
Before Vanity
New Vanity – Our new vanity came from a big box store. This saved us quite a bit of money. It came with the granite top, the under mount sinks and the hardware The only thing we needed to buy were the faucets. We also downsized the size of the vanity. The old vanity was 100 inches long and the new vanity is only 72 inches long. This allowed us to add a little knee wall between the toilet and the vanity so when you walk into the bathroom you don’t see the toilet at all. I just love it! Even though the vanity is smaller there is still plenty space for all of our stuff because of all of the drawers.
Old Bathtub
New Free Standing Bathtub – The free-standing bathtub was a must have for me. We had so much room for it once the old tub was removed. I actually sat in a bunch of different bathtubs to make sure it was the right size for me. I highly recommend doing this. Some of the tubs were way to big for me! Gotta try them on for size! I also had to choose the tub filler (that’s what they call it). So many choices!
Old Shower
New Shower – The new shower is the masterpiece of the bathroom! I did want to have some shower niches in the shower. In order to do this, the contractor had to build out the exterior wall to accommodate them. You can kind of see it in the picture. In the niche I used some sparkly hexagon tiles. I just love them! It took some convincing by my designer Christina from Kanata Renovations but I am glad I used them. They complement my marble hexagon tiles on the shower floor perfectly. We picked a gorgeous rain head shower head with a matching hand-held shower and tub filler by Kalia called Kontour. I also chose to use the amazing floor tile, statuary blanco, on the walls of the shower as well as on the floor. It turned out better than I imagined! Even though the shower is in the exact same place as the old shower it just feels soooo much bigger.
Old Toilet
New Toilet – Not much to say about the new toilet besides that it is a Kholer brand toilet. It just flushes really well. That’s pretty much all you want in a toilet isn’t it? It sure is pretty though and most importantly it is white.
Old Sink
New Sink – The old sink and counter top were a disgrace. Our new vanity came with beautiful white under mount sinks. I also love the grey and white marble counter top it came with. It’s one of the reasons why I chose this specific vanity. Stunning right? I also chose gorgeous faucets from Moen called Rizon for the sinks.
Lighting
It is so hard to take pictures of lighting! The orb light is called Angelica by Kichler lighting. I also got the matching semi-flush mount light for in the closet area. They both have strips of sparkly crystals on them which match my sparkly hexagon tiles in the shower niche. The orb chandelier was not really what I had in mind at first but when I saw it I fell in love with it. Then I discovered that there was a matching semi-flush mount light for the closet and I was sold. I bought them both at my local big box store on sale no less! The sconces I purchased from Wayfair for a good price as well. All in all I spent $638.61 on lighting….under my $700 budget! Woo Hoo! Read about my lighting experience here.
Well that pretty much does it for the bathroom. I plan on creating a separate post with pictures of the new walk in closet area. Here are a few more pretty pictures of the bathroom just because!

Beautiful remodel. Curious why the handheld bar and valve on different sides of the wall?
Karla says
To be honest…a mistake. We thought if it was on the other side the water would aim towards the door. I wish we had put it on the other side. There’s always something you would like to change after a reno!

Beautiful! You have great taste! As you can imagine, i found your page because I am putting my vision together and it is almost identical to yours. I am so excited to hear about the floor tiles. I really wanted shiny ones but thought they would be too slippery. I have been looking at the same exact tile too! I am curious as to where and what brand your stand alone tub is?
Karla says
Hi Lori, thanks for checking out my blog. My stand alone tub is a Zita brand tub. It is not a large tub as I am a petite person. You really need to ‘try on’ your tub. Don’t be shy to get in and take it for a test drive!

What is the name and color of your floor tile? Where did you get it?
Karla says
Hi Nikki, thanks for checking out my blog. The tile I used is called Statuary Blanco Polished porcelain tile. I got it here in Ottawa, Canada at a locally owned tile shop. You definitely should be able to find it at any reputable tile shop in your area. Check out my blog post about buying tile and learn about slip ratings for tile.

I love the colors of your walls! Can you share the paint brand and name?
Karla says
Hi, I love it too. I believe the colour is called Big Chill by Sherwin Williams.

Love your master bath remodel. Is the tile you used on the wall and bathroom floor hard to keep clean? I am looking to do a carrara marble look and wondered if it was slippery outside of the shower too. This is the style i am looking for. Beautiful!
Karla says
Hi Kris, even though this tile has a very shiny finish it is not slippery. I tested several tiles out by doing a ‘slip’ test. I slid across my samples with bare feet, sock feet and wet feet. As for keeping it clean I use a swiffer. It is mostly hair that accumulates (hairy husband) and the swiffer is great for picking it up. Then I use the swiffer wet to deep clean when needed.
